EXCHANGING THE NATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE WITH A ROMANIAN ONE

WHO: According to the Order 163/2011 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), people who have domicile, residence or normal residence in Romania may apply for the conversion of the driving licenses issued by national authorities to similar Romanian documents. The following driving licenses issued by national authorities can be exchanged with similar Romanian documents without a driving exam or test: a) Member States listed in Annex no 1 b) Member States of the Road Traffic Convention, signed at Vienna on 8 November 1968 and ratified by Romania by Decree no 318/1980 except those mentioned in letter a) – listed in Annex no 2 c) States listed in Annex 3 NEEDED DOCUMENTS: The person who wants to exchange the national driving license with a Romanian one needs to go to police with the original and copy for: - The medical certificate FOR THE DRIVING LICENSE (includes a series of specific test) - National driving license - Blue card - Passport ANNEX 1: The list of the Member States issuing national driving license that can be changed without examining or testing the holders of such permits 1. People\'s Republic of China (*) (*) Until the concluding of the bilateral treaty with People’s Republic of China, only the B category driving licenses issued by the authorities of this country can be exchanged with the Romanian ones.
